Supper Quiz raises £5520 profit

The third LGF Supper quiz was held on Sunday 18th November 2008 in Borehamwood, Herts.  It was once again a great success and all credit is due to the quizmaster and the sub-committee members who carried out the detailed planning and preparation.

CMS Cameron McKenna dress down day

Law firm CMS Cameron McKenna has raised £1218.38 for the LGF from their October dress down day.  Many thanks to all the lawyers and other employees for their generous support and to Louise's sister Claire Saffer for suggesting the charity as their cause for the month.

First Bridge Evening raises £1600

On 9th September, the LGF held their first bridge evening in Mill Hill and raised the fantastic sum of £1600 to help in future research into Hughes Syndrome.

 

June 2007

Comedy Store Evening raises £4500

Many thanks to everyone who came to the Comedy Store on 11th June and especially to the comedians, Paul Thorne, Sugar Sammy, Matt Kirshen and John Fothergill who helped raise over £4,000.  The evening was another great success with well over 300 people attending.

 

November 2006

Supper Quiz  - Another great  success

The annual LGF supper quiz on Sunday 19th November, 2006 in North London raised well over £5000 for the second year running.  It was well attended, with over 200 people taking part in a fun evening of stomach and brain stimulation.  Thanks to quizmaster David, Joanna for an impassioned appeal and to all the organisers for another great evening.

Comedy Store Evening raises £4000

    

On Monday June 6th, hundreds of people attended an extremely funny and enjoyable evening at the comedy store, Covent Garden, London.  Our thanks go to the  MC Mark Maier and comedians including Sean Collins and Adam Bloom for, once again, making this a hugely successful evening.

Official Launch of the Louise Gergel Fellowship

On Thursday May 11th, Professor Graham Hughes, Dr Munther Khamashta and Dr Laura Bertolaccini attended the official launch of the Louise Gergel Fellowship at their research laboratory in St Thomas' Hospital, London.  Laurence Gergel and Dr John Wolffe spoke on behalf of the LGF and the medical team updated the audience on the symptoms associated with Hughes Syndrome and the latest research taking place in their laboratory and elsewhere around the world.  Afterwards they conducted a tour of the laboratory.  We would like to thank all our supporters who attended for sparing their time and for their generous donations.

May 2006

First research paper published

In conjunction with Dr Munther Khamashta, Dr Bertolaccini published her first research paper as the Louise Gergel Fellow in the Lupus Journal on 3rd April 2006.  This paper discusses some of the practical issues involved in laboratory testing and diagnosis of Hughes Syndrome.  For more information see Research page

 

November 2005

Louise Gergel Fellow Appointed

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Maria Laura Bertolaccini as the first Louise Gergel Fellow.

 

Dr Bertolaccini's is an extremely accomplished researcher at the Lupus Research Institute at St Thomas' Hospital.  She has many years' experience in the study of Hughes' Syndrome, working with Dr Hughes, Dr Khamashta and Dr D'Cruz.

 

We wish to thank all our supporters who have enabled us to reach this important milestone in the history of the LGF.

 

We intend to keep supporters up to date with Dr Bertolaccini's work on our "Research" page.

 

November 2005

Supper Quiz raises £5,300 

On Sunday 6th November over 200 people took part in a supper quiz  at Mill Hill Synagogue, London, England to raise money for the LGF.  The evening was a great success with lively competition, good food and tough questions.  Everyone seemed to have an enjoyable evening and financially the evening was a great success too.
